Pepper Enters Womanhood

Updated: Sep 20, 2019

This morning I started my day off by waking up to a bed covered in diarrhea. Gross, right? Well apparently this is one of the fun parts of having a puppy in heat. Poor little girl started her first heat a few days ago. She has to wear a diaper around the apartment, and is very upset about it.

*Cue the dramatic howl*

At first, we were going to breed Pepper. After learning about the health consequences, however, we chose not to. Research suggest that getting a puppy fixed after their first heat, is actually more beneficial than doing so before. So, it looks like the timing worked out.

Pepper isn't acting completely different than her normal self- besides the puking and diarrhea. She sleeps a lot, tries to take off her diaper CONSTANTLY, and is a lot more talkative than usual. My goodness she's a dramatic one, such a complainer. Last night when I was trying to paint, she kept incessantly shoving her way into my lap while wailing to try and move my attention to her. All I can say is ...My clingy baby's diaper now has paint on it. Luckily there were no paw prints on THAT painting.

She is napping as we speak, (the only quiet time we get), but is in a better mood than last night. Poor little girl. She should be feeling better in about two weeks. The question isn't whether or not she'll survive, but if my sanity will.
