I got tatted at a flash event for Suicide Awareness. Old School Tattoo parlor in Bellingham was honoring the loss of one of their artists. For anyone who is wondering: A semicolon tattoo is a tattoo of the semicolon punctuation mark used as a message of affirmation and solidarity against suicide, depression, addiction, and other mental health issues. The metaphor: One chooses to keep their sentence going with a ; instead of ending it with a period.

As a writer, I love this metaphor. As a Psychology major and mental health advocate this was a meaningful symbol.

Mental health awareness is extremely important, but often gets looked passed because of people's fear of stigma. I wanted to remind everyone that there is nothing wrong with needing and/or wanting help. There are so many people in this world, so you are never expected to do anything alone.

A friendly reminder about how to act towards someone who is struggling:

Always be supportive and remind them they are loved. <3

(One of her favorite toys is Scooby Doo)

Pepper is our corgi puppy and light of our family. She was born November 15th 2018, and made her way into our hearts January 2019. Garrett and I drove 12 hours in total to pick her up from Idaho. The drive was long and boring but 100% worth it. Pepper passed out in our laps most of the drive, after experiencing her first Puppicino and sugar high. Now 10 months old, she is the sassiest, smartest, happiest girl. Between her and our cat, Figgy, it's like having two toddlers running around the house constantly. They have the stereotypical love/hate sisterly relationship and enjoy chasing each other around the apartment and knocking over my various projects (this is why we can't have nice things).

I have wanted a dog all my life, but the timing was never right for my family. Garrett, my partner, grew up with dogs and missed having one around. We started looking for a puppy casually last fall, but decided we couldn't afford it. We found Pepper and instantly fell in love, but Garrett threw out a very low number for our puppy fund and we couldn't get her. Fast forward a month..my determination still high, I came across Pepper again and her price had been reduced. Reduced....to $50 lower than Garrett's winning number. We contacted the breeders immediately and drove to Idaho the next day. An unheard of price for a purebred Corgi and a family who wanted a ball of joy, it was meant to be. Like Marley, she became our beloved clearance puppy.

Pepper's first time meeting Us.

Ever since that day in January, Pepper has been one of our biggest reasons to smile, laugh, and cry joyously. Keep reading to hear more stories. <3

I am a full-time college student at Western Washington University (Bellingham, WA). I am working towards a major in Psychology and a minor in sociology, with plans for Graduate School. My current expected graduation is fall 2020! I am a total nerd for anything psychology, so if you enjoy the topic as well, there will be plenty of posts about it.

Pepper Rose is my corgi puppy and 24/7 shadow. She will be featured on this blog quite often, as she is extremely clingy and I am a total dog Mom.

I have always loved writing, and created this blog as a form of writing therapy. I also enjoy reading, photography, and other forms of art that will be shared as well.

Join in on any topic! I love meeting new people and seeing other people's perspectives. This is merely a place to "nerd out" and share with other lovely people.
